My friend Nikhil is getting married, and his invitation card has inspired a blog spot..As you can see his invitation card speaks much about the Indian mindset: Red and Gold...how much does it speak of the anatomy of an Indian Wedding!

Even as each bride internalizes her wedding day to be one of the most important days of her life, it is bigger than life to an Indian..not just to the bride and the groom, but to a whole community....cuz that is how the culture is..We are a land that celebrates..in birth we rejoice, during weddings we dance, during festivals we throw colors, and in death we wail without restraint..
The land that to some extend is infamously known for its arranged marriages, is actuality a great proponent of love..tempered by movies, poetry, and age old tradition, we are a people refusing to let go of the idea of love that lasts..we incorporate the Christian tradition of 'to death do us apart ..in sickness and health'...

incorporation of christian tradition? heard christians incorporate hindu traditions in many aspects..
ReplyDeleteI was not talking in literal terms..I am probably not be the right person to have a discussion on which culture borrowed from which :)
ReplyDelete....even though times are changing, the relationship between man and woman that arises from marriage is revered very highly among Indians..
